Winnie’s puppies are 2 weeks old Their eyes are opening, they’re starting to crawl, and Winnie is doing an amazing job. Here’s a behind the scenes look at how they’re growing and what happens at this adorable stage.

Watching Them Grow

It’s hard to believe that Winnie’s puppies are already two weeks old These past days have been a beautiful blur of tiny paws, gentle squeaks, and lots of sleepy snuggles. As their breeder, it’s such a joy to watch them change a little more each day, they’re growing stronger and more alert.

If you’ve ever wondered what life is like for 2 week old puppies, here’s a peek behind the scenes at what’s happening in the whelping box this week.

Milestones: Tiny Eyes and Wobbly Legs

This week has brought some exciting changes. Around day 12, I started to notice the first little eyes beginning to open, just narrow slits at first, but now several of them are wide awake (well, as awake as a 2 week old puppy can be). Their eyes are still a cloudy blue-gray, and their vision is blurry, but it’s amazing to see them take their first look at the world.

Their ears are starting to open too, so they’ll soon be able to hear the soft sounds around them, Winnie’s gentle whines, my voice, and even the rustle of bedding. They’re also beginning to push up on their front legs, wobbling around the box as they explore a few inches at a time. It’s equal parts adorable and hilarious to watch.

Feeding Time with Winnie

Winnie has been such a wonderful, attentive mom. She spends most of her time nursing and cleaning the puppies, making sure every single one gets their share of milk.

At this stage, her milk is all they need .it’s full of antibodies and nutrients that help them grow strong. I weigh each puppy daily to make sure everyone is gaining consistently, and so far, they’re all right on track.

Every now and then, Winnie takes a quick break to stretch her legs, but she never stays away long, she’s so devoted to her babies.

Cleaning and Care

Because 2 week old puppies still can’t eliminate on their own, Winnie takes care of this part too. She stimulates them to go by gently licking their bellies and bottoms after nursing, nature really knows what it’s doing.

I keep their bedding clean and dry, changing it often to make sure everyone stays comfortable and healthy. They still sleep most of the day, curled up together in a warm puppy pile.

Warmth and Comfort

Keeping the puppies warm is still a top priority. The whelping box stays around 26°C now that they’re two weeks old. I use a low heating pad under part of the bedding so they can move to a cooler spot if they get too warm.

It’s always such a peaceful scene, Winnie lying in the middle, surrounded by her little ones, all snuggled together.

Socialisation and Handling

Even though the puppies are still tiny, I’ve started gently handling them each day, just for a minute or two at a time. This helps them get used to human touch and builds trust early on.

They’re so soft and quiet at this stage, and it’s amazing to feel how their little bodies are growing stronger each day. Soon, they’ll be wiggling out of my hands and exploring on their own.

Health and Growth

Each morning, I do a quick health check to make sure everyone’s thriving. I look for:

Warm, plump bellies

Steady weight gain

Clean eyes and noses

Quiet sleep after feeding

So far, everyone looks fantastic, Winnie is doing a great job.

If any puppy were to seem weak, cold, or cry excessively, I’d call my vet right away. But thankfully, this litter has been wonderfully healthy so far.

It’s such a fun time to watch them transform from sleepy newborns into curious little explorers.
